Deerhound Collars

Deerhound Collars

from £35.00

‍Hand carved, bespoke leather collars for deer and sight hounds in the traditional shape, finished with brass or stainless steel buckle and keeper. Collars can be lined or unlined (see additional information below). ‍ ‍

Let’s discuss how you would like your collar to look. Embellishment possibilities range from Celtic knots and scrolls to nature inspired, tribal or abstract designs. Lettering is also possible though it is never advisable to put your pet’s name on a collar, for obvious reasons. Your collar can be natural leather (flesh), or it can be dyed and the design details can be coloured.

‍Please remember, the collar is an elongated lozenge shape and tapers towards the strap ends so space is limited, even on the broadest part of the collar.‍ ‍

If you would like me to design a collar for you, see here for details about Old Barn Leather design

Collars may be unlined or lined with either suede or a nappa covered padding. If you choose a lined collar, we can decide on colour combinations once you have selected your design.

Collars come in TWO sizes:

Small: 28cm - 45cm (11 inches - 18 inches).

[sweeping from 2cm to 5cm to 2cm]

Large: 45cm - 60cm (18 inches - 24 inches)

[sweeping from 2.5cm to 6cm to 2.5cm]

Other sizes are available by arrangement.

These measurements relate to the size of your dog’s neck, NOT the overall length of the collar.

How to measure your dog for a collar

  1. Measure the exact circumference of your dog’s neck where the collar would sit comfortably, placing two fingers between the neck and the tape measure (or instead, add 1.5 cm to your dog’s neck measurement). If you prefer to measure in inches, please remember to tell me.

  2. Select the collar size that corresponds with your measurement from the dropdown box below. Do not add anything on for overall length of the collar as I will adjust the length of the collar to allow for buckle and tuck strap based on the circumference of your dog’s neck that you supply. Your measurement will end up being similar to the distance between the buckle and one of the middle holes in the tuck strap.

Alternatively, if you have a collar that is in current use, measure the collar from where the leather wraps around the buckle prong to the hole that you currently use. Again, please don’t add the length of the buckle or the rest of the tuck strap from your favoured hole to the tip - I will add that.
